How To Cook Valentine’s Dinner On A Budget

Valentine’s Day in Australia is becoming increasingly expensive. A recent survey we conducted found that Australians were set to spend $415 million on Valentine’s Day in 2022 with men more likely to spend more money than women. Those in Western Australia were set to spend the most, with an average of $166 on Valentine’s gifts.

Over a quarter (28%) of Australians planned to spend money on food, chocolate or alcohol. This was higher in NSW (40%) and South Australia (43%). So, with most people looking to celebrate Valentine's Day with food and drink, it's clear this is the best plan to have this 14th February.

Luckily, as they say, food is the language of love. Cooking for your partner is one of the most romantic things you can do - and it doesn’t have to break the bank either.

How to Enjoy Valentine's Day in Australia

Unlike a lot of countries in the world, Valentine's Day in Australia falls in the summer months, which means you can get outside and enjoy the day with your loved ones. There are no set things to do on Valentine's Day, and it should be up to you and your partner to decide what to do based on the things you love to do together. But, if you're struggling for ideas, we recommend a picnic in the park, going to the cinema or visiting the beach. Or, if you're looking for something more low-key and within budget, why not cook a hearty homemade meal and pop a movie on at home?

How to Celebrate Valentine's Day With the Whole Family

Will you be with the kids this Valentine's Day but still want to celebrate? There are plenty of ways you can commemorate the day of love whilst spending it with the whole family.
A homemade dinner as a family is the perfect time to show your children what is means to celebrate love, by talking to them about it and showing them how you can show you care for someone through gift giving, acts of service and words of affirmation. Your children will learn from you so this is the perfect opportunity to teach these lessons.
